What is a "Shrimp Butt"?

So here it is...a video document of the infamous "Shrimp Butt"...a phenomenon that happens when little Emma gets excited, especially when someone comes in the door!

This little act puts the biggest smile on my face every single time it happens.

But the funniest part is, she answers to her new nickname of "Shrimp Butt"...I try not to use it often, but she knows I'm talking to her when I say it.

Needless to say...this little fluff monster is the best pregnancy depression medication EVER!!!! Thanks Cuz!!!

Emma & Jake: From Fear comes Love...and then Jealousy!

Emma is a Tar Heel!

So, when Emma first arrived, she was terrified of Jake. Then, she was more comfortable with him...only when he would come into the house to say "hi". This afternoon, on our trip over to the neighbors to meet Jennifer, she tried to chase after Jake in the front yard (but alas, she was on the leash). Then she actually went out into the backyard with Jake & Dolce' without having to be held or at my heels!!!!
I was so proud!!!

Then it happened.

Emma and I were in the rocking chair and Jake came into say "hello".

First there was love and sniffy kisses...



...and then Jake wanted to give me Kisses, but Emma wasn't having it and she started growling. It was only by luck that I caught this magnificent image on film:



That was all it took...I was in tears, laughing so hard. This pup is seriously PRICELESS!!!

Sushi Came to Visit!

So, it has been very hard for me to watch Emma try & try to get Dolce' & Angelica to play with her when the only time they seem interested in her is when she had food or a chewy.

Well, she'll have a little break for a few days, because Aunt Kathy & cousin Sushi have come to visit!!!



Emma & Sushi are giving each other a run for the other one's money! I wish I could have gotten the video started 2 min. earlier...Emma was just boxing Sushi in the head as he went for her!!!

But alas, all that fun & romping around means naptime is here. Emma is passed out across my lap, and Sushi is laying right next to us.





Of course, this is after a foot back rub from Momma (her Aunt Dusti).

Emma: Escape Artist

Today, Amanda succumbed to the cuteness! She couldn't bear to lock poor Emma up in her cage all day...alone. SO, she put her crate in the kitchen with Dolce' & Angelica (& left it open), since she was playing with Dolce'.

I thought, "GOOD!" She could be out, run around, and not sleep all day!

Well....turns out she did more than that...because she was just chillen on the back of the couch when Dad came in the door from work.

But, she was an angel (as usual) and hadn't messed up one thing, or even used the bathroom in the house!!!

This dog just keeps getting better & better!


P.S. - she's just so thug in her hoodie!!

mmmmm....chewy!!!

If there is one thing I've learned so far, it's that little Emma loves her HUGE rawhide chewies!!! She will go at one of these things like a piranha until it is non-existent (if you let her)!

But...then she passes out! I love it! How can anyone resist that face!?!?

Is Emma A Dog???

This seems to be the question we would like to ask Dolce' & Angelica.
Amanda seems to think that they don't consider her a dog...because they basically don't pay her any attention.
In my book, this is a good thing. Means that there are no problems. They are cordial to each other, but Dolce' would rather bother Angelica, and Angelica would rather just be left alone!
Today Dolce' & Jelly went to the groomer & came back all naked & such. This didn't bother Emma at all...she just took off with Dolce's little seahorse toy and made it her own.
Emma and Jake are starting to get along more. At first she was TERRIFIED of him, but I know they will be best friends before this is all over. He is so gentle with her, and has even tried showing her how to "go pee" in the back yard when she has been too scared to get far away from me. I really wish I would have gotten that on video to share!!!

Introducing: Emma Sellers!!!

So, today was a pretty rough day @ work....and going to pick up Emma definitely made it better.

Mom & I met Uncle Don & Aunt Karen @ the Wendy's in Graham...and the poor little thing didn't know what to think of the first part of her great adventure!!!!


She even got to explore the garden center @ Walmart before we made it home!

But mostly she cuddled and slept her way to Roxboro...

We got home and realized that she definitely likes people more than other dogs, but I'm sure she'll warm up to the others. Jelly and Dolce' sure do seem to like her!!! But my baby Jake just doesn't know what to make of her!!!

Now it's bedtime....we're both pooped! More tomorrow....maybe even pics from her bubble bath!!!

Day 1: Picking up Emma

Today the countdown has reached "0 days left" until little Emma arrives at the Brier Patch/Mole Hole. I don't know how it's going to be possible to make it through the workday...excitement is overwhelming!

This blog is going to chronicle her adventures while Daddy Byron is in the big GA. & since I know my cousin loves his little fluff ball, I wanted him to be able to see what she's up to every day.

You might find pictures, videos, or funny stories about what Emma is up to; how she's getting along with Jake, Dolce', & Anjelica; or what exciting adventure I decide to take her on :) !

There is just one thing to be said...

DON'T WORRY BYRON! SHE WILL BE UTTERLY SPOILED!!!
